Well, it has been MONTHS since I have had the time to sit down and work on my website. But Savie's graduation week has inspired me to get back to adding pictures and stories of our lives in Thailand.
SAVIE IS FINALLY GRADUATING! She will officially become Dr. Savittree Rochanasmita Arnold on July 23, 2008.
They do graduation a lot differently here in the Land of the Siamese. They have a "picture day" where everybody comes and takes your picture in cap and gown for several hours.....and then thousands of students go and rehearse over and over again for the big day.
One of the daughters of the King of Thailand will be handing the diploma to the graduating students, so everything must be exactly right. They take this very very seriously and rehearse every bow, curtsey, and gesture down to the last minute.
Sooooo, Savie and our other graduating Thai friends came and camped out at our place the night of July 18th to get ready for PICTURE DAY. We had lots of food....and I made two batches of homemade Spanish Sangria to get everybody relaxed.
Then at 4:00am....just hours after everybody finally went to bed....it was GMA time at the Arnold house. No no no....GMA does not stand for Good Morning America. It stands for the Gay Makeup Army that arrived to powder and paint the 4 ladies for Picture Day. See pictures below of the "It's Raining Men" Hair and Beauty Show!
2 hours and 30 Barbara Streisand songs later, the gang posed for a picture.
We then traveled to Kasesart University early early in the morning and the girls started to get ready for the upcoming barrage of photographers, family, and friends.
It was hotter than Amy Winehouse's crack pipe outside ....especially for those who had to wear heavy caps and gowns.
But the heat and humidity didn't dampen the spirits of the soon to be doctors!
